Modelist is generally called a three dimensional patterner, who applies the designer's sketch to a human body model and adds dimensionality to it. Modelist is distinguished for the plane patterners who are usually called tailor or patterner. Modelist is a patterner as well as participating in overall design processes and a modelist sometimes makes his own designs and also takes a role of patterner. In Korea, currently, the role and concept of three dimensional patterner versus the former plane patterner are not distinguished clearly, though it had high possibility to grow in the future, like in the countries with highly developed pattern production technologies.

Fashion converter is an expert who creates unique material (fabric), or purchases raw fabric and adds value to it for selling. Namely, fashion converter is responsible for creating or converting a fabric into a new form. Fashion converter must have an ability to recognize fashion trends quickly, and they need to suggest and sell the material (fabric) to apparel makers, which will become a trend.

Pattern makers pattern after the dress design that is made by the designer. Pattern is one of the most important factors that decides the shape and taste of the clothes, thus it mist be based on expertise and scientific knowledge. Pattern maker needs an ability to measure a precise paper pattern according to the body size, and also a good sense of making clothes dress by coordinating with the designer's desire. He also needs to understand the design characteristics.
